Thailand, Doi Saket
Doi Saket, Chiang Mai, the oldest coffee-growing area in Thailand, holds significance as the site where the first Arabica trees were planted in the late 1970s. Heirloom varietals, particularly Red Typica, still thrive here. Among them, the rarer Bourbon Mayaguez 139 with yellow cherries stands out, resembling Typica's tree structure. Beanspire collaborated with a young couple, Nui Intakad and Aoy Jaisooksern, who left their city jobs to work on their parents' coffee farm. They processed the Yellow BM-139 as a thinly dried natural, resulting in a complex and clean cup profile akin to established African and Central American origins.
